The practice of one person (usually a parent) using their own no-claims bonus to attempt to reduce the insurance cost of a less experienced driver (usually a son or daughter). The policy is held in the more experienced driver's name with the other driver listed as a named driver who is the sole or predominant user of the vehicle. They represent a higher risk to the insurer as a new, inexperienced driver. Should an accident occur it is quite likely the insurer would argue that the policy should have been in their name and refuse to pay out on the policy.
