I am being penalised twice for the same offence - the first for failing to follow an ahead-only sign and the second for making a no right turn at the same time?

I have been sent two fixed penalty notices for the same "offence" which on one is a code 32d, and the other a 50. I made a right hand turn into a side street following a sign which stipulates "ahead only" - the white arrow pointing upwards on a blue background. There is no "no right turn" sign evident at this junction but Transport for London are intending to fine me twice for this offence even though the no right turn sign does not exist. I appreciate there is a ahead only sign, but I don't know whether I would be able to contest the charges or not. Furthermore I did the same thing every day for a matter of weeks and am concerned that I could now accumulate hundreds of pounds in fines.

I think on this you could successfully argue that the two are a single offence and therefore issuing two tickets are duplicates of the same offence. You need to appeal to the issuing authority on those grounds and take it to the adjudicator if they refuse it.

However with regard to repeats of the offence each one is technically chargeable. But you may be able to negotiate a "bulk discount" with TFL as it were. You will have to wait until they come in though.
