I have a provisional licence and am taking my test in December. What would happen if the police caught me driving my car alone?
I've got a brand new car, all insured, everything legal but I only hold a provisional licence. I have passed my theory test and am taking my driving test in December. Because I've got some disability and it is hard for me to commute every day to work, I'm thinking about driving my car. What would happen if the police caught me driving my car alone, without a qualified driver beside me?
It is definitely not worth it. At the very least you would be convicted for not driving in accordance with a licence. You would get 3 penalty points which, should you get further points on passing your test, would come into play and could see your licence revoked so you would have to re-apply for your licence and re-sit your test.
If they are feeling nasty they will throw in an insurance offence as well - meaning 6-8 points and a very substantial fine (probably £450+).
