I have a ticket for jumping a red light but my friend was driving and he has now returned to Spain. What should I do?
I have today received a ticket for jumping a red light, I need to supply them with the driver details etc. The problem is that my car was being used by one of my friends who was on holiday here in the UK. He actually lives in Spain and I am not sure what I should be filling in on the form the police have sent me. Do I fill in my friend's name and his address in Spain?
If your friend was the driver then you must give his full details and how to contact him. Be aware the police may not believe you as they hear this kind of response a lot - as do we. They will probably ask you to prove he was insured and warn you that you will be prosecuted for permitting somone to drive without insurance if he wasn't!
Be careful - the police will suspect you are trying to pervert the course of justice which is imprisonable.
