I have only had my licence for two months, I had an accident and am now being charged with careless driving. What will be the penalty?

I had an accident on the motorway when I suddenly lost control and my car went into the barrier and then into bushes. I was safe and no other car was involved I just crushed my car. I have only had my licence for two months. The police were called by another person who saw me and I am being charged with careless driving. I was told a letter will be sent in 6 to 8 weeks time. What will be the possible penalty?
