I have received a NIP for allegedly speeding. I don't think I was speeding so should I appeal against the accuracy of the camera or ask for the speed awareness course?

I received a Notice of Intended Prosecution from a Gatso of 36 mph in a 30 mph zone. I had seen the camera and checked my speedo as I passed which I am sure read only just on the upper edge of the 30 calibration ... should I appeal against the accuracy of the camera or ask for a speed awareness course?

If you accept that you were above the speed limit then you should ask for the speed awareness course but do it fast as some areas only offer it if you reply promptly to the NIP.

If you don't think that you were speeding you should contest it but you risk getting summonsed to Court and higher costs and a fine if convicted. If your speedo is defective, and a mechanic will confirm this, then you may have a special reasons argument to try and avoid the points being imposed.
