I was caught doing 86mph in a 50mph limit by radar gun. What is the best I can hope for?

I was caught doing 86mph in a 50mph limit by radar gun. I thought it was a 70mph limit because it was a dual carriageway. The officer said I would get summonsed to Court. There was no warning signs of any speed cameras. I travel a 90 mile round trip to get to work and back, haven't been caught for speeding for over 10 years and have no points on my licence. What is the best I can hope for?

You are off the scale in terms of the Magistrates Association guidelines. This means that you are at significant risk of a discretionary disqualification I am afraid. You will get summonsed to Court and you won't get a fixed penalty offer. You may be able to defend the allegation if the officer's evidence is in some way flawed or you may be able to avoid a ban with very good mitigation.

We have a 96%+ success rate at contesting matters where we advise a not guilty plea and we have a 94%+ success rate in helping people to avoid discretionary bans.
