My friend was selling his car and let a potential buyer test drive it who then got caught speeding. My friend does not have contact details for the potential buyer. What should he do?

My friend was recently selling his car and let a potential buyer test drive it who then got caught speeding. My friend is now looking at three points and a £60 fine but he doesn't have contact details for the potential buyer.

He needs to do his best to find out the name of the driver. He needs to tell the police the efforts that he has gone to in that regard.

They will either accept what he says and let the matter go or issue a Summons for failing to provide the information. If he is convicted of this offence he will face six points and a hefty fine, but he will have a statutory defence on the basis of using all due dilligence in order to figure out who was driving at the time of the allleged offence.

If he succeeds he will get no points and no fine.

If he wants a free advice call come back to me. I have a 96.88% success rate at the time of writing in defending these allegations.

Has your friend got any points at the moment? If so, how many?
