Run over in a taxi hit-and-run. Can I claim even though it was two years ago?

by Murdo Maguire last modified 2007-01-05 13:25

I was run over by a taxi 2 years ago but the driver drove off. Can I claim?

Yes, but if the accident occurred in 2004 rather than 2005, as your date indicates, you have less than three months in which to lodge a claim as court proceedings must be filed within three years of an accident.

If you have no details of the taxi driver concerned, you can still make a claim within the three year period to the Motor Insurers Bureau on the Untraced Drivers Agreement.

This is more likely to succeed if the Police were involved but a claim could be made even if they were not.

Do not delay under any circumstances. I have instructed a lawyer to contact you as you request.
